Pixel Housing
“Pixel Housing” looks at answering the question of density vs quality of living. The design project looks at creating a delicate balance between these two conditions. A voxel grid was deployed on site and through iterative design the system sought to optimize the density, open area on ground, maintaining 70% touch free peripheral area between units (to promote light and ventilation) and ensuring minimum 6-meter distance from any fenestration. This resulted in a staggered arrangement of the units where by the central landscape and peripheral landscape both have a distinct quality of spaces with built and landscape amalgamating into each other.
The design is not seen just as a housing project, but rather a place where the residents can unwind and rejuvenate their senses. Various social and interaction spaces are provided on the ground floor and terraces such as organic farming, yoga, amphitheatre, spa, sauna, gym, library, juice bar, play spaces, etc for the residents.
The materiality of the project looks at using concrete, grc and green plantation to create a project that ages gracefully over time and gets a natural patina.
Designed as a modular system, the aggregates of the flats are prefabricated and will be deployed on site, to ensure efficient and high quality construction.
