Amit Gupta
Currently Director at Studio Symbiosis Architects, Mumbai and earlier Principal at Akasa /Architecture, New Delhi has led architecture and urbanism projects for over 22 years. With extensive
experience in London and in India, Amit’s portfolio consists of a wide range of projects including
urban, commercial, high-rise office buildings, institutions, mixed-use projects, hospitality and
residential projects amongst others in India, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Amit has been
associated with architectural offices of repute – Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, London, ARCOP,
The Guild of Architects, New Delhi.
Amit is the Design Director for the Third year B. Arch. Design Studio at the Sushant School of Architecture, Sushant University, Gurugram, Haryana and has actively participated in architectural
design juries across the schools in pan India.
As a designer, educator and researcher, Amit’s core area of disciplinary interest is Adaptive Habitats and Responsive Ecologies and the correlations and impacts on Contemporary Urbanism.
Contemporary urbanism has a networked character as opposed to segregated conceptions of
space (i.e. zones, boundaries and edges). Through use of generative tools and parametric methodology, Amit has been pursuing an investigation into adaptive habitats that can accommodate
dynamic environments, respond to emergent urban complexities, and reflect on the potential
of new architectural typologies that are transforming urban experience and reshaping contemporary culture.
