‘Script is a unique perspective on furniture and accessory design which combines beauty and intelligence to create a fluid living experience. The design brief was a primer into the brand ethos of Script – a space to showcase and market its furniture range. The display was to be a part of India Design 2019, India’s largest luxury design week.

What stood out throughout the design deliberation was the strong brand identity of Script. Thus, the idea was to embolden its brand elements and use them as spatial delineators, in lieu of vertical walls. Brand’s typeface was supersized and the letters were located in such a way that, from a vantage point, they visually align to form the brand logo, ‘Script’. On the reverse side, the letters acted as backdrop to the furniture ensemble with an integrated screen to showcase the product story of each product. So each ensemble has its own defined island accompanied with the large letter.

Owing to its location and the surrounding, the Script exhibit was envisaged as an extrovert ensemble, with access from all sides and the motive to beguile visitors and capture their imagination. Movement lines were thus used to delineate the ‘product islands’. Differentiated in their materiality, the islands became bespoke pulpits for each product and its story. The neutral colour theme of the exhibit allowed the products to be the centre of attraction.

8000 fibre optics wires hung from the ceiling created an immersive and ethereal experience. Their ends were beaded and like stars they mesmerized the exhibition space with successive fading in and out of lights.

The design, thus, did justice to the promise of ‘Script’ as a brand. It explored the ‘fluidity of function’ with the amicable use of branding typeface. It instilled a tone of ‘positivity and a neo-urban character where ‘individuals can enjoy, socialise, work and connect effortlessly with new experiences.’ Lastly, it combined ‘beauty and intelligence’ to create a stage for an intuitive and deep connect with a contemporary lifestyle.
