Sky Gardens looks at reconnecting inhabitants with nature around them. Design with the paradigm of living within the green, vertical landscape gardens are provided for residents along with cascading amenities floors with green terraces on lower levels, and a central landscape.

How we occupy a residential project has changed in the last years. Home used to be small part of the eco system of an individual; with office, travel, leisure spaces accounting for a large amount of time spent by them. All these activities have become a part of the eco system of one’s residence now and the amount of time spent and the activities required in a residential project have increased multi-fold. For us this project is designed around the wellbeing of the residents. The design of the condominiums, activities provided for the residents in the landscape, amenities floors in the towers and clubhouse are all aimed toward rejuvenating the mind, body and soul.

Project is located in Hyderabad (India), spread over 9.37 Acres, with a total built-up area of 41,47,100/- sqft, the project consists of 5 towers (154m each), clubhouse, and central landscape. The design constraints presented to us were; Vastu, Mivan construction, expedited construction time, and wellbeing of the residents. The design of Sky Gardens evolved from these design parameters into a modular system that cascades from the landscape and soars into a vertical landscape garden.

Sky Gardens as the name suggests is a vertical landscape that hosts condominiums. Every apartment has a beautiful outdoor garden and terrace that can be used for growing organic herbs, relaxing zone, barbecue area, deck with seating, green lawn that can be used by kids to play and also for yoga, along with dense trees planted on the façade. Given the hot climatic conditions of Hyderabad the dense foliage helps in reducing the direct heat gain, and also produces oxygen to create a healthy living environment.

Space usage is critical in 21st century living. The living units have been design with transformation based spaces, that adapts to the changing needs of an individual throughout a day and throughout the life cycle of an individual going from Bachelor living, married life, kids and so on. The design enables the condominium to evolve with the user.

Sustainable design strategies are embedded in the design, by reducing heat gain through green façade, deep cantilevers, water bodies are placed in the landscape with respect to wind direction to ensure evaporative cooling, lighting analysis has been done to ensure optimal light inside the apartments, along with green roofs to reduce the thermal heat gain.

Sky Gardens echoes the theme of “Every house is a penthouse”, whereby living in condominiums does not means living in a concrete jungle, but the feeling is the same as you would have living in a house with front garden. For us this project is about rethinking the future of living.
